Charlie:    Regrets, I will not be able to attend our 60th reunion but I will be thinking about you all and about our four years together at OAC so long ago. I haven't really been in touch with our Class since 1958 but briefly, I graduated from U of T Engineering in 1959, worked with a consulting engineering firm in Toronto for three years, then moved to Shell Canada Ltd where I stayed for 25 or so years during which I held a number of interesting jobs including Chief Engineer for Ontario for a three year term, then a number of engineering related jobs including some in Head Office and a senior job responsible for all retail marketing in Western Canada (from the BC Coast to the Ontario border. I retired from Shell (I had enough travel and moving my family. Then I joined Professional Engineers Ontario where I was for 12 years, ten of which were as Executive Director.

I remarried in 1991 to Margaret. We travel a great deal.In addition I am now a professional artist with many exhibitions and professional qualifications under my belt...I work in my studio every day. Margaret and I live much of our time on Amherst Island (in Lake Ontario, 22 km west of Kingston) and have a small condo in Toronto... That's the short version of my life and activities. LARGE, Peter Geoffrey Scott P.Eng., SCA, OSA

March 19, 1935 - April 17, 2023

Beloved husband for 32 years of Margaret Crawford Maloney, died peacefully in Kingston after a short illness. Peter was a kind, good man, patient, generous, humorous, an excellent communicator and an empathetic listener. He was a joy to live with.  Born in Toronto to Wallace John Bulmer Large and Jeanette Silberman, Peter was predeceased by brother Donald Ross Large (Marie Therèse).Peter was a graduate of the Universities of Guelph and Toronto. His career was primarily with Shell Canada and then Professional Engineers Ontario, retiring as CEO. Peter wasalso an award-winning artist, working in oil, watercolour, and coloured pencil. He was a member of the Ontario Society of Artists, the Federation of Canadian Artists, and the Society of Canadian Artists of (which he had served as President). He was a professional member of March 19, 1935 - April, the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto for over 40 years and President in their Centennial Year. Peter's artwork is held in many private and corporate collections in Canada and abroad, including the Government of Ontario Archival Collection, the Shell Corporate Collection and the Museum of Lennox and Addington. He acted widely as curator, juror, and writer for many exhibitions. For over 20 years he maintained a studio on Amherst Island. With his wife Margaret he travelled extensively sketching and later producing detailed drawings. Peter's enthusiasm for the arts extended to theatre and music and over the years he volunteered on many boards.

Loving father of Doug (Mary), Rob (Leslie), Ian (Stacey), he is also survived by their mother Mary-Jane Horsefall, and grandchildren Tim and Jennifer and their mother Faith Hughes.

Cherished stepfather of Sarah (Ray), Brian, Mark (Isabelle), and Kevin (Alison). Adored by grandchildren Mollie, Kathryn and Maggie Cronin, Connor and Fiona Prior and their mother Anna, Perrine, Keiran and Arden Maloney.

Also mourned by nephews Ken, James and Tom Large.

The family is grateful for Peter's excellent care at the Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care Hospital, and for the tremendous outpouring of concern and support from friends.

A celebration of life will take place at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., REAR ENTRANCE, on Friday, May 5, 2023 between 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations could be sent to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Canada 551 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, Ontario M5V 0N8 or the charity of your choice.In care of

Education: B.S.A., BaSc.,OCA studies plus separate courses and tutelage in painting and drawing.

Peter has been a working artist for forty years and is an award-winning member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), a member of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA), and a Past President of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto.   His work is the drawn image, using graphite, ink, colour pencil and watercolour. Two of his drawings are in the Province of Ontario's permanent Archival Collection.

In 2014, Peter became the first non-County artist to become a full-time member of Arts On Main, a Co-operative gallery in downtown Picton, ON. Peter has work in many collections including Shell Canada Ltd, J, Bate and Associates (Kingston,ON), Thomas, Large and Singer (Woodbridge,ON), and the Federation of Canadian Artists (Vancouver).

He has served twice as a juror for Prince Edward County's  annual 'Art In The County' exhibition.

His work has been selected in a number of juried exhibitions including:

• Summer 2005:, SCA Gallery On The Grand (Waterloo)- 'Spring Trout Lilies'.
• Summer 2007:, 100 Years at the Arts and Letters Club (Varley Gallery, Markham)-'Celebration'.
•  Summer 2008: OSA Toronto..'Thistles'.
• Summer 2009: OSA Summer Exhibition, Gallery de Boer, Owen Sound, two works:
• One Afternoon In Seville' and 'Nick's Barn'.

Peter Large's home and studio is on Amherst Island, in Lake Ontario, west of Kingston. Settled more than 200 years ago, Amherst Island has seen waves of immigrants - United Empire Loyalists, the Irish, the English... Mostly farmers, these immigrants left  their traces- old houses and barns, cemeteries, split-rail fences, Irish-built stone walls and early farm machinery. These influence Peter's work, expressed not in rust or decay but with respect and with the view that these 'traces' are evidence of an early optimism that continues here to-day.
